The Girl I Had to Become to Survive
There’s something nobody talks about when you’ve been through trauma…
Sometimes survival changes you before healing ever gets a chance to.
People see the hard exterior.
The attitude.
The silence.
The way you move.
The way you don’t trust easily.
But what they don’t see is the little girl inside who had to grow up too fast.
I used to think survival made me strong.
And in some ways, it did.
It taught me how to keep moving.
How to survive pain.
How to adapt.
How to stay standing even when life tried to break me.
But survival also made me guarded.
It made me question love.
Question people.
Question whether softness was safe.
Healing taught me something different.
That strength isn’t always about surviving.
Sometimes strength is choosing peace.
Choosing growth.
Choosing yourself.
Choosing to believe your story means something.
That’s part of why I created Carried by the Game — not just to tell my story, but to give a voice to the parts of us we hide.
The pain.
The survival.
The lessons.
The becoming.
Because sometimes we aren’t broken…
We’re rebuilding.
